We All Need Motivation
We all have things that motivate us. Things that motivate us to do more and be more. But what happens when the motivation fades?
What happens when what once was a motivator, is no longer a motivator?
I found myself in this position a couple weeks ago. I felt down, unmotivated, unproductive, lost.
So I brainstormed.
And what I came up with was the very thing that motivated me when I first started my business. The very thing that pushed me to design my website, create my logo and take my business seriously... that reassured me it was something I could do and be successful at.
The very thing that motivated me the most, was actually my step-daughter.
Janae and I started our photography businesses at the same time. Living about 1,000 miles apart, we would chat on the phone on a regular basis, bounce ideas off of each other, critique our images and simply motivate.
So I sent Janae a text.
Janae is 7 1/2 months pregnant and definitely not about to get on a plane nor drive in a car for 14 hours. But I needed motivation. I need to hear someone say "you got this!".
A couple of weeks later, my motivation arrived.
I literally busted out in tears as soon as I started reading the card. Janae couldn't travel to me but she sure did send the motivation to me.
A card filled with inspiring quotes, a notebook for brainstorming and since she couldn't be here, the next best thing...
At the beginning of each day, we all need to find what will motivate us. For me, that motivation comes from Janae. Reading her card, brought me back to the beginning of my business. It sparked a new excitement in me. A new energy. She reminded me why I love what I do, that I have what it takes, that I can and will succeed.
So what about you? What motivates you?
